Leaf Removal and Cleanup

removing the dried leaves
Here in Anchorage we have the privilege of enjoying the subarctic seasons with everything from dry summers to winter snow.  It's a beautiful climate with each season bringing its own pleasures and different stages of growth and regeneration in the yard but it does mean we have the traditional leaf problem in fall. Which means that you have the choice of getting out there (or sending the kids out of course) to clear up those leaves every year or hiring the pros and sitting back with a nice hot drink while we make short work of the job with our yard vacuums, rakes, and manpower. We think it's an easy choice.

Why Leaf Removal Matters
Leaf removal isn't just about aesthetics, though the appearance alone would be enough to make it worth while. Aside from the fact that it just looks like you don't care for your property there is also the factor that those leaves lying on your grass are blocking photosynthesis just as your lawn is trying to store up energy to get it through the snows.  Fallen leaves don't just block out the light they also create the perfect environment for trapped moisture which can lead to moss and mold outbreaks that can be tough to shift.  Leave the leaves and you just store up problems for yourself for next year.

Fall Cleanup
Fall is usually the time that homeowners call on us to shift those fallen leaves and since we can predict fall pretty accurately we'd recommend that you schedule your appointment with us now and give us an idea of the likely scale of the job.  In combination with our other lawn care services it is a perfect time to make sure that your yard is in the best possible condition to resist the rigors of winter.

Spring Clean
Spring is a traditional time of re-birth and nowhere is that more true than in the yard where everything is gearing up for the new growing season.  Problem is that after a tough Alaskan winter your yard may not be in the best of shape and even if you had your yard cleaned in fall there are plenty of other leaves that will have blown into it over the cold months not to mention all that random trash.

Blowing, Raking, Vacuuming
We have lots of ways of tackling your fallen leaves and general trash.  For areas where there is curbside leaf collection we can do a simple blow to the curb but for a more thorough job or where collection is the property owner's responsibility then we find that a combination of yard vacuum, blowing leaves onto a tarp, and good old fashioned raking is the best way to go.  Ask us about composting and mulching options too as the best way of dealing with your fallen leaves may be to turn them into rich nutrition for your own yard plants. We can either curb your leaves, transport them and dispose of them, or help you create compost – your call.
